Amid the LCK Transfer Window: The Anchor of Data

Late November in Seoul, I sat by the window overlooking the Han River and let my phone light up again and again. Every notification was a name, a number, a promise. There was a rumor about a marksman about to join a new team on pay said to be three times higher. There was word that a roster was entering a “total overhaul.” There were even twelve-page analyses that, read in full, left me unsure who they were about, which game, which season. I opened my notebook and underlined one line: which game, which team, which data. Three questions, and not one answer. In my trade, that is the exact moment an analysis dies. Every match is a chapter, and I am only turning the page — but a blank page tells you nothing.
The LCK transfer window has never been a tidy story. It begins long before any contract is announced. Teams negotiate behind closed doors, agencies send out vague signals, and fans sit rereading every status line to guess who will leave and who will stay. This year I noticed something unusual: the volume of content produced during the transfer window has far outstripped the volume of real information. People write about feelings more than structure. They talk about “moves” more than clauses. And in that current, a great many analyses appear without a single anchor.
What is that anchor? First, the game itself. It sounds obvious
